Based solely on the opinions voiced at the NYE party, here are some of the best sounds of the past twelve months:
Favorite shows include Thurston Moore at Sled Island at the Grand, Nardwar at the Ship with Andrew WK, the Oh Sea in Broken City, and Miss Quincy at Mikey’s.
The debate ranges on for best venue; it is agreed that it really depends on the music. The Blues Can and Ironwood in Inglewood, Mikey’s in Altadore, the Ship and Republik on 17th, Broken City and Commonwealth in the core.
And if you want to hear some great local bands, check out Gold, Samantha Savage Smith, Shematomas, or go old school with some Plaid Tounged Devils, Motherfuckers and Fire Engine Red (totally not 2012, but still awesome).
